Colorado College values intellectual focus, self-directed learners, and evidence you will thrive in the intensity of the Block Plan. Successful applicants show deep curiosity or sustained projects in one or two areas (research, studio work, intensive arts, competitive athletics, outdoor leadership) rather than scattershot activities. They weigh demonstrated academic stamina and initiative heavily, and are slightly more forgiving of GPA dips if balanced by standout qualitative evidence of focus, rigor, or unusual experiences that fit the CC learning model.
In the why-CC and short supplements, cite specific Block Plan opportunities and faculty or programs you will use, for example a particular block-timed research seminar, the Colorado College Outdoor Education program, the Strong Cornerstone Seminar, or a named professor whose lab fits short-term immersive work. Explain concretely how one intensive block project or a plan for a semester of consecutive blocks will advance your goals, and if relevant, note outdoor or mountain-based activities you already do to show cultural fit.
